Starting with my SAVE THE DATES; If you are pinching pennies and your Wedding Invitations are important to you as it is to me, maybe it’s not a bad idea to take it back a few decades and hand make them. I will tell you this much, everything I liked would of been $600++ just for Wedding Invitations. That’s wild to me since most people throw them in the recycle bin when the wedding is over. To each their own! If you are a crazy craft lady like me and you think your bridesmaids would love to spend their free time slaving away in your sweat shop well this project is definitely for you. I know you can walk away with maybe spending under $100 If you follow my steps! Assuming you have watercolors, paint brushes already, hot glue, scissors (Which could also be found marked down) you basically will be spending money on stamps, envelopes, translucent paper and watercolor paper.
#1 Watch this video on how to make your own watercolor craft paper.
#2 Go to the Dollar Tree and grab their packets of watercolor paper. 9/10 stores they have it. If not, you can purchase nice quality paper at Jo-Ann’s and Michael’s make sure you get their 40% off coupon. I have found really nice packets of 20 for $1.49 at Target as well.
#3 At Michael’s, I found really pretty white envelopes on sale. They are sturdy enough to watercolor over and were only $10 for 2 packets of 50!
#4 Start with baby steps and have a watercolor day. Get all your girls to color endless amounts of paper and cut them into the size you want.
#5 Design two different styles of paper. One for cutting different shapes and gluing on top of the card and the cut outs for the invite. The ones with triangles I spent more time adding gold or salt on it so up close you could see the texture.
#6 Now Create! Glue and piece everything together. You can’t go wrong.
I hope you like! Let me know what you think and leave me a comment! be sure to share with your friends and family! Thanks so much! I will keep you posted on my process and how I will create the envelopes next week!!
